The Campus Girl

THE CAMPUS GIRL                      By Nelson M. Kilonzo.
It’s Monday evening and all the Varsity streets are busy. Guys walking their way out on the footpaths…but the Campus girl…it’s time to get back to campus. Clutching her ‘big’ handbag (that seems to take in so much), in her mini dress passes reluctantly and disappears in the crowd.
Tuesday, she tries to catch all her classes though so lazily. Hang-over and boredom can be noticed in the way she walks from her class to her hostel. It’s eventually evening and time to rest but before getting to bed she has to join her girl friends to watch her favorite soap opera as they share their weekend adventures in big hotels, expensive clubs, cool drives…
The Ladies Night is finally here. She gets so hyper as night enters waiting for the night event. Today she seems a bit composed and calm. A big smart phone in her hand and she keeps making calls and chats alive. It’s time to enjoy the night with her friends. Drinks on their table and a little dance keep her and her friends awake till late.
Thursday …plans are made for the weekend. Calls intensify and chats kept so live. She waits for this day…
Friday…its finally ‘furahi-day’. Hand bags…heels…minis dresses and phones in the list. The Campus girl is ready for the weekend out. A posh car at the gate to ride her off for the short weekend. It’s sped off so fast not to waste more time… and till we meet again next week…it is the start of the weekend. She keeps the trend. This is the Campus girl…

THE BEAUTY IN MY DREAM...

THE BEAUTY IN MY DREAM                                 BY Nelson M. Kilonzo

And there she stood,
In front of my face,
But I couldn’t touch her,
So near…yet miles away.

Her eyes gave a glitter,
In the woods near the river
Like a diamond in the shine
As she smiled away.

Like a trunk so fixed
I stared at her sterling beauty
Lips red as berries,
This gave my heart a throb
Her chest so pointed,
My hands felt itched…
I knew I had met her.

Her feet stood on the ground
So staunch as she leaned on the wood,
Her arms so stretched,
Ready to wrap around me.
Her hair so dark,
Spread down to her back
She called my name…
I felt frozen!

A step nearer, but I felt so fearful
Her breath so slow,
And mine as a deer.
I looked at her beauty
And saw the lust in her eyes
As my hand reached for her waist
And my lips for her berries
I woke…
I knew I had met her,
A beauty in my dream.

I WRITE.

I WRITE                  BY Nelson M. Kilonzo

It’s for the love of litera that I write,
It’s for the love of my thoughts that I fight,
With heights of inspiration, for liberation.
Some ink in my pen…
Thoughts in my mind…
And so I write.

It off’s my laden,
It makes me strong,
Bears me my power.
It flashes me fresh,
It made me write,
It will…
And so I write.
