THE BEAUTY IN MY DREAM                                 BY Nelson M. Kilonzo

And there she stood,
In front of my face,
But I couldn’t touch her,
So near…yet miles away.

Her eyes gave a glitter,
In the woods near the river
Like a diamond in the shine
As she smiled away.

Like a trunk so fixed
I stared at her sterling beauty
Lips red as berries,
This gave my heart a throb
Her chest so pointed,
My hands felt itched…
I knew I had met her.

Her feet stood on the ground
So staunch as she leaned on the wood,
Her arms so stretched,
Ready to wrap around me.
Her hair so dark,
Spread down to her back
She called my name…
I felt frozen!

A step nearer, but I felt so fearful
Her breath so slow,
And mine as a deer.
I looked at her beauty
And saw the lust in her eyes
As my hand reached for her waist
And my lips for her berries
I woke…
I knew I had met her,
A beauty in my dream.
