AS I CROSS THE GATE… By
Nelson M. Kilonzo
I cross the gate,
Yes I do!
I cross the gate
That barred me from feeling my
love forever
The gate that made us live in
worlds too far
The gate that held him back from
me
But now I in him and him in me
As I cross the gate…
His hand fitted strongly in mine
As his ring in my finger fits so
fine
On my cheek rolls down a tear
Not for my heart’s a fear
Rather for the joy we share
And eternally he is mine
As I cross the gate…
I too feel sorrow
For the hearts I left hollow
Your care and love I borrow
For my heart’s love I follow
And to him I feel so low
As I cross the gate…
As women clap in joy
Men nod in appreciation
As we walk hands stitched
Going down the isle
My heart racing in glow
As I cross the gate…
